RYAN BUDGET SCREWS the MIDDLE CLASS, STUDENTS, SENIORS & WOMEN

DANGER WARNING

Rep. Paul Ryan—the Republicans’ self-appointed policy maker—is out with a new plan to cut Head Start, Medicaid, food stamps, low-income housing, energy assistance, job training, education, veterans programs, and... well, just about everything. The Ryan budget would:
Raise taxes on middle class families by $2,000

End the Medicare guarantee and turn Medicare into a voucher program

Cost our economy 1.1 million jobs next year alone
Other problems??? [source:  http://TheRepublicanBudget.com]--in California alone we'd see
45,109 Millionaires would get an $87,000 tax break
358,862 seniors would pay more for medicine by bringing back the prescription drug donut hole
51,350 college students would not get Pell Grants
1,315 domestic violence victims lose access to STOP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN  PRGM
21,140 children would lose access to Head Start
More problems?? Yup. The economists whose data Ryan is using to justify these cuts say that Ryan’s misrepresenting their work, so it can't even do what he think it will.

Ryan cherry-picked data from various academic and governmental studies to create his numbers and the economists whose work he’s misrepresenting aren't happy about it.

Simply put: Paul Ryan is pulling a fast and furious--threatening to hold Americans hostage.. again.

Joaquin, a produce section clerk, did not know who Ceasar Chavez was.....

From time to time, my wonderful wife talks with people in stores. We were in one of the stores we frequent for fresh veggies and fruits (hard to find in the High Desert at times). She was commenting on how much has to be done to get the fresh veggies and fruits into the stores and she further commented on the struggles of leaders like Caesar Chavez (having just noted the anniversary of his passing a few weeks ago). The young man (fluent bilingual), in his early to mid-20's had no idea who he was or what he has done. The re-education process via pro-corporate school curriculums and workplace re-education has for Joaquin been successful.

Ukrainian Aide? Who is kidding who?

Ukraine Aid – Passage - Vote Passed (378-34, 19 Not Voting)

On Tuesday, the House agreed to concur with a Senate amendment and pass a package of $150 million in aid and loan guarantees to the Ukrainian government. The vote required a two-thirds majority under the suspension of House rules. President Obama signed the bill into law on April 3.

Rep. Paul Cook voted YES.

.
I know Ukranians over there and sympathize, but what is $150 million going to buy. In the Ukraine they reportedly have as much in US currency stashed as some of our federal reserve banks.

Cook Votes to Screw Full Time Non-Government Workers Again

Employee Hours Rules – Passage - Vote Passed (248-179, 4 Not Voting)

House members voted on Thursday to change the number of hours employees must work to qualify for mandatory employer coverage under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The law would define full-time employees as those working 40 hours a week, ten more hours than as defined under current law.

Rep. Paul Cook voted YES.......

.
Can you believe this? People who wanted coverage through their employers now won't get it? How insane is this! If you have every worked in corporate America (as opposed to being on the government dole all your like Paul), a full time job is often 37 1/2 hours a week. With Cook and his republipuke buds having only 95 days in session this year planned by the "Speaker", they should be reclassified as part time workers as well and have their medicals taken away.

Thoughts....

I am mindful of the struggles (and everyone asking me for money to fund them--ha); I really believe we need leadership more than anything else and the skills to seek common ground. I could find it. Progress might be less than what people are entitled to, but it needs a kick start. Electioneering budgets is not the approach for any fiscal policy dialogue. An agreement needs to be made on what we need then leave the argument to methodology. To come up with a budget that has consequences without discussing the goals and objectives is being seen by many as typing one's own pink slip.

In a recent flyer in this campaign I wrote:

1. You will get an experienced civil rights & consumer advocate (an attorney by the way for over a quarter of a century) that will protect a woman’s right to choose, will protect the right to choose one’s marital partner, the right to be free from unlawful voter suppression tactics, policies & laws, the right to be protected against discrimination in employment, access to public services and benefits because of  race, color, sex/gender, sexual orientation (perceived or actual), medical disability/condition, national origin and/or ethnicity being different. Bob will also protect the workers’ right to organize and collectively bargain free of the fear of violence and unlawful retaliation. Bob will fight for reforms in the banking laws that give citizens a fair and efficient claim & appeal procedure for abuses. Abuses of Veterans will not be tolerated.

Bob’s experience??? Bob has already served as a Court appointed mediator, arbitrator & temporary judge and with that experience has the ability to take hostile parties to resolution of their controversies, something sorely needed in Congress.  Bob also filed challenge to Proposition 14 [that gave us the open primary (Brown v Bowen) under the Voting Rights Act & Civil War Civil Rights Acts (Title 42) and a due process, confrontation & preemption clause challenge to the infamous red light camera cases (Jaquez v City of Victorville). Bob in addition has served on “Protect the Vote” legal teams (also pro bono). Bob helped form a Human Relations Commission in Santa Ana California nearly 40 years ago.

2. Bob is a veteran volunteer in the California Democratic Party & will be able to work with leadership

Bob’s experience??? Bob has served as a Regional Director (the first time when he was 19 and more recently in his 50's), has served on the Platform Committee drafting the Business & Professions Planks which have gone basically unchanged in the past decade, Bob is a veteran of two campaigns against Jerry Lewis beginning the process of documenting his ethical challenges (which ultimately led to his retirement, but not before spending a  million dollars in legal fees fighting investigatory subpoenas). Bob has assisted in poll watching and working with the Registrar’s office to find touch screen machines that were down in the Gloria Negrete McCloud campaign. Bob worked on Voter Watch campaigns for the Obama campaign as well.

3. Bob will not cut Social Security, Veteran’s Benefits, Medicare, Medi-Cal benefits, public school funding by vouchers or expansion of charter school funding [especially to fund failed military & federal reserve policies]

4.  Bob will add to revenue by NOT funding programs that the military says they do not want or need, capture tax revenue lost by tightening the offshore income concealment practices of foreign and American corporations making their income in the US.

Call me if you have any questions and thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
ROBERT D. CONAWAY

Paul Cook Votes to Financially Punish Doctors Taking Medicare Patients

Medicare Doc Fix – Passage - Vote Passed (238-181, 12 Not Voting)

On Friday, the House agreed to repeal the sustainable growth rate model of physicians' compensation rates under Medicare. The bill would establish a single conversion rate of cost increases for physicians' services at .5 percent through 2018 and would completely freeze updates thereafter through 2023. The bill would also require certain federal agencies to perform studies of access to health care and cost controls for some procedures under Medicare.

Rep. Paul Cook voted YES

.
So Congressman Cook want to punish doctors that take Medicare patients (by cutting modest increases), wants to kill the Affordable Care Act in toto (vs improve it)....hmm...yet he doesn't vote to kill the automatic pay raises he gets from a bill Jerry Lewis co-sponsored before the left office. Can we afford this guy??? Does this guy seek to cut his Assembly and Military Pension increases--of course not--double faced and double standard.
